Prostatitis is invariably found with cellular zinc levels that range from above-normal, to excessively high. Many alternative practitioners include zinc as part of their therapy trying to treat prostatitis, however only Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy, or an enlarged prostate, is sometimes related to below-normal levels of zinc. At higher levels, zinc becomes pro-inflammatory, being a main reason why those who supplement extra zinc for prostatitis generally worsen their symptoms.
